DENTISTRY AND DENTAL HEALTH

Good dental health is an essential part of your pet’s well-being.  It is as important to animals as it is to people.  Dental disease can lead to other health issues including eating disorders, systemic infections, and kidney disease.

Before a dental procedure can be performed, we require bloodwork which includes a CBC and a blood chemistry profile.  On the day of your pet’s dental procedure, your pet will be administered a pre-anesthetic injection, then a general anesthesia. Your pet will be hospitalized for the day and will be able to go home, either late afternoon or early evening.   One of our doctors will make a personalized plan-of- action for your pet. Dental procedures include a thorough dental examination, removal of plaque and tartar build-up, polishing, and extractions when necessary.  When needed, our doctors will dispense antibiotics and pain medications following your pet’s dental procedure.  We recommend Oravet Dental Hygiene Chews.  They provide an easy, daily oral care that fights against bad breath, plaque, and tartar.  There are 4 convenient sizes of Oravet Chews.  They come in 30-count bags.  Your dogs will LOVE them!
