On Site Diagnostics

ON-SITE DIAGNOSTICS

Our on-site diagnostic machines have been such a plus to our veterinarians and our patients.  Instead of having to wait 24-48 hours for all results, we have the capability to have most of your pet's results in minutes.  However, there are times we will need to send samples to our outside reference lab.

We use the Abaxis laboratory equipment.  Using the blood analyzer, we can run the following tests:

CBC (complete blood count).  It is the total number of cells in a given amount of blood.  The cells include red cells, white cells, and platelets.  It is one of the most common ways to detect abnormalities in the blood.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Profile:  We recommend this profile for our patients who are 6 years and older and for patients who are ill.  This gives us a complete "picture" of your pet's internal organ functions.  The profile includes:  alanine aminotransferase (ALT), albumin (ALB), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), amylase (AMY), calcium (CA), creatinine (CRE), globulin (GLOB), glucose (GLU), phosphorous (PHOS), potassium (K+), sodium (NA+), total bilirubin (TBIL), total protein (TP), and urea nitrogen (BUN).

Prep Profile II:  This profile is used for our patients less than 6 years with no apparent health issues.  This is used as a pre-surgery screening.  This profile includes: alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), creatinine (CRE), glucose (GLU), total protein (TP), and urea nitrogen (BUN).

We also run profiles specifically for liver, kidney, thyroid functions and phenobarbital levels.

We purchased our Abaxis SA Urine Analyzer in December 2018.  What a great decision for our patients!   The analyzer accurately identifies red blood cells, white blood cells, crystals, bacteria, casts, and epithelial cells.

Our on-site diagnostics also include Idexx tests.  The Idexx test kits we use at Creature Comforts Veterinary Center are:
